As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, we were a little late this year on our holiday decor. This past weekend we had some catching up to do, but made up for lost time rather promptly and managed to get lights on our house and ornaments on our tree in the SAME day!
I’m pretty proud of our efforts and how we the whole family helped to decorate our very own Christmas tree, so without further ado, here it is!
We were able to purchase our tree from the same farm group that does our CSA (community supported agriculture). It was great to support them and we also got a nice discount on our Christmas tree for being part of the CSA.
I feel like I say ever year that it’s the best Christmas tree we’ve ever had, but this really is the nicest trimmed Christmas tree we have EVER had. It was also the fastest we have ever picked out a tree. Usually, we are at the lot for a good 30 minutes to an hour nit-picking at every angle, but as soon as I saw this tree, I knew it was perfect.
One thing that wasn’t perfect was the height. We went for an 8′ tree and gave our ceiling height a little too much credit. It does fit (barely) but the Christmas star will have to wait until next year to come out.
Of all the ornaments on our tree some of my favorites are ones we have made over the years. Last year, I made gift tags out of these wooden ornaments by painting them with craft paint and puff paint. It was a nice added benefit that we could use some of them on our Christmas tree this year.I also helped my mom make these Santa napkin rings out of mini pinecones, wood craft balls, cotton, pom-poms and felt for our holiday table last year, but this year they make a great tree hanging.
I didn’t make any DIY ornaments this year, but after decorating our tree and seeing all the fun ornaments from years past, it kind of makes me want to. Do you have any DIY ornament ideas you’d care to share?
